Formula
working days = calendar days − weekend days − holidays that fall on working days
- Both the start and end dates are included when counting.
Go day by day and count only the days that are not weekend and not a listed holiday.

How it works
January 2024 has 31 days, 8 of them weekend days, leaving 23 working days. Add the 26th as a public holiday and you get 22. Holidays that fall on a weekend are not subtracted twice.
Public holidays vary by country, state and employer, so this tool deliberately has no built-in holiday list; paste the dates that apply to you. When adding working days the start date is not counted — day 1 is the next working day. If you need calendar days instead use Days Between Dates Calculator or Date Calculator: Add or Subtract Time; for a notice period see Notice Period Calculator.
Assumptions and limits
- Holidays are only what you list. Half-days aren't supported.
- Dates only — time zones don't matter.
