Formula
paragraph = 3 to 6 sentencessentence = 7 to 16 words from a Latin word list, capitalised, ending with a full stop
- The opening line “Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit” can be placed first
- Words are drawn at random from a list based on classical Latin vocabulary
Pseudo-Latin sentences are assembled at random so the text looks like real copy without carrying meaning.

How it works
Lorem ipsum is scrambled Latin used as stand-in text so that a layout can be judged without the distraction of readable copy. The vocabulary is based on words from a first-century BC work by Cicero, and the standard opening line, Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, is the best-known version. This generator draws words at random to build sentences of seven to sixteen words and paragraphs of three to six sentences, so every run produces different text of realistic proportions.
Choose paragraphs for body copy, sentences for captions and cards, or words when you need an exact length for a headline or button. Placeholder text should be replaced before anything is published: it is meaningless, and shipping it hurts both users and search results. Real copy in a design also behaves differently, since real words have uneven lengths and line breaks.
Nothing here is stored or sent anywhere. To measure the text you generate, use the Word Counter; for generating real random values such as secure passwords or identifiers, see the Password Generator and the UUID Generator; and to change capitalisation of the output, use the Case Converter.
Assumptions and limits
- The text is random pseudo-Latin and carries no meaning.
- Each run produces different text, apart from the optional opening line.
- Up to 100 paragraphs, sentences or words per run.
